The authors consider a predator-prey model with functional response of Michaelis-Menten-Holling type, whose denominator is a linear function of both prey and predator. The main objective of this paper is, just as in previous investigations by partly the same authors, to analyze the existence of heteroclinic bifurcation, and in particular, to improve already existing approximations of a surface in the threedimensional parameter space, where a heteroclinic orbit exists. For this purpose, the system is transformed into a perturbed Hamiltonian system, and the corresponding Melnikov function is calculated up to a sufficiently high order. The computations are simplified by using the Betafunction. Moreover, numerical methods for the integrals involved are needed, too.
