The Gorenstein projective conjecture states that over an Artinian algebra a finitely generated Gorenstein projective module \(M\) is projective if and only if it is selforthogonal, i.e. \(\text{Ext}^1(M,M)=0\) (this conjecture is a special case of the generalized Nakayama conjecture). The authors settle the conjecture for a commutative Artinian ring. To get this result they give nice conditions that guarantee that a finitely generated torsionless module \(M\) over a commutative Artinian ring \(\Lambda\) is projective. These conditions are that \(\text{Ext}^i(M,\Lambda)=0\) for \(i=1,2,3\) and that \(\text{Ext}^i(M,M)=0\) for \(i=1,2\).
