The Gibbs phenomenon is appearing in the neighborhood of the discontinuity point of the function by its approximating Fourier series. The authors present the multiplication factor, named Lanczos type sigmoidal filter (LSF). The LSF is based on the sigmoidal transformation and is generalization of the existing Lanczos filter. The LSF method converges faster either near or away from the discontinuity point than the original Fourier series.
