This paper is the third (and last) part of the author's dissertation [for part I, see J. Algebra 319, No. 9, 3960-3974 (2008; Zbl 1153.20004)], for part II, see ibid. 321, No. 4, 1107-1131 (2009; see the preceding review Zbl 1171.20007)]. It is not possible here to go into details, so that the reader is kindly referred to these very interesting papers on the subject under consideration. To close with, we end up by quoting the author's abstract: Two character tables of finite groups are isomorphic if there exist a bijection for the irreducible characters and a bijection for the conjugacy classes that preserve all the character values. In this paper we compare the number of non-isomorphic \(p\)-groups with derived subgroup of order \(p\) with the number of non-isomorphic character tables of these groups. We show that the difference between the number of non-isomorphic groups of this type and the number of non-isomorphic character tables of these groups increases exponentially. Furthermore, we prove that if we fix the index of the center of these groups, say \(p^{2m}\), and we let the size of the groups grow bigger, then, for each character table there are on average \((2m)!/(2^mm!)\) non-isomorphic groups whose character table are isomorphic to the given one.
