The authors study the unstirred chemostat model of competition between two species for two perfectly complementary resources, which takes the form of a system of reaction-diffusion equations, and was previously studied by \textit{J. H. Wu, H. Nie} and \textit{G. S. K. Wolkowicz} [SIAM J. Appl. Math. 65, No.~1, 209--229 (2004; Zbl 1077.35057)]. They extend the results of the above paper by characterizing the exact range of the parameters of two species so that the system possesses positive solutions, and by investigating multiple positive steady states of the system of equations, determining when the numerical simulations results in the above paper hold rigorously.
