The aim of this paper is to show that seminormality can be lifted: If \(\,(R,M)\,\) is a local noetherian ring, \(\,y\in M\,\) is a regular element, and the ring \(\,R/yR\,\) is seminormal, then \(R\) is seminormal, too.
