Let \(R\) be a commutative noetherian ring. It is well-known that, if \(R\) is Gorenstein and local, then every module with finite projective dimension has finite injective dimension. Conversely, \textit{H.-B. Foxby} [Math. Scand. 40, 5--19 (1977; Zbl 0356.13004)] showed that, if \(R\) is local and admits a finitely generated module of finite projective dimension and finite injective dimension, then \(R\) is Gorenstein. In this paper, the authors prove an analogue of Foxby's result for homological dimensions defined in terms of semidualizing \(R\)-modules. More precisely, they prove the following result: ``Let \(C\) be a semidualizing \(R\)-module. Let \(M\) be a finitely generated \(R\)-module with \(\text{C-pd}_R(M)<\infty\) and \(\text{C-id}_R(M)<\infty\). Then \(R_{\mathfrak p}\) is Gorenstein for each \(\mathfrak p\in \mathrm{Supp}_R(M)\).'' This result recovers the recent result of \textit{S. Sather-Wagstaff} and \textit{S. Yassemi} [Arch. Math. 93, No. 2, 111--121 (2009; Zbl 1173.13009)] where they proved this result for the case \(\text{C-pd}_R(M)=0\).
