The authors deal with dynamical properties of electro-magnetic fields by a rather non-standard approach based on Born-Infeld equations. Under assumptions on certain interrelationship of strong electric and magnetic fields in the vicinity of point electrostatic sources, they compute the total stress acting upon a charged sphere of finite radius and draw conclusions on the stability of electric charges. At the end, also some interpretations are suggested for the spin of elementary particles.
