The notion of recollement of triangulated categories was introduced by \textit{A. A. Beilinson, J. Bernstein} and \textit{P. Deligne} [``Faisceaux pervers'', Astérisque 100 (1982; Zbl 0536.14011)] in their work on perverse sheaves. They proved that (equivalence classes of) recollement data for a triangulated category \(\mathcal D\) are in bijection with triples \((\mathcal X, \mathcal Y, \mathcal Z)\) of full subcategories of \(\mathcal D\), called TTF triples, such that \((\mathcal X, \mathcal Y)\) and \((\mathcal Y, \mathcal Z)\) are \(t\)-structures on \(\mathcal D\). The main goal of the paper under review is to provide a more explicit description of TTF triples for certain types of triangulated categories. A general parametrization of TTF triples is given for triangulated categories with a set generators, including aisled and \(\aleph_0\)-perfectly generated categories. This result is applied to characterize when such a category is a recollement of triangulated categories generated by a single compact object. Using the notion of homological epimorphism of dg-categories as a main tool, the authors proceed to obtain a complete description of TTF triples in the derived category \(\mathcal D\mathcal A\) of a \(k\)-flat dg-category \(\mathcal A\). In fact, it is proved that there is a bijection between TTF triples \((\mathcal X, \mathcal Y, \mathcal Z)\) on \(\mathcal D\mathcal A\) and smashing subcategories \(\mathcal X\) of \(\mathcal D\mathcal A\). Homological epimorphisms are also used to give several examples of recollement for unbounded derived categories of algebras. In the final section of the paper, relying on the results of \textit{H. Krause} [Am. J. Math. 127, No.~6, 1191--1246 (2005; Zbl 1090.18007)], the authors establish a bijection between TTF triples of a compactly generated triangulated category and certain idempotent two-sided ideals of the subcategory of compact objects. They also show that this bijection implies the following weak version of the generalized smashing conjecture: every smashing subcategory of a compactly generated triangulated category is generated by a set of Milnor colimits of compact objects.
