    The following boundary value problem is considered: \[ -\psi(x,u(x),u''(x))' = f(x,u(x),u'(x))\quad\text{a. e. }x\in (0,1), \] \[ c_{00} u(0)= c_{01} u'(0)\quad c_{10} u(1)= c_{11} u'(1), \] where \(c_{j0}^2 + c_{j1}^2 >0\) for \(j=0, 1\) and \(f,\psi: [0,1]\times \mathbb R^2\to \mathbb R\) are Carathéodory functions satisfying: (A) For a.e. \(x\in [0,1]\) and all \(s\in \mathbb R\) the function \(\psi(x,s,\cdot)\) is strictly increasing. (B) There exists an odd increasing homeomorphism \(\phi: \mathbb R\to \mathbb R\) such that for a.e. \(x\in [0,1]\) and all \((s,t)\in \mathbb R^2\) \[ \left| \psi(x,s,t) -\phi(t)\right| \leq e_\phi(|t|), \] \[ \xi_\pm(x)\phi(s) - \zeta(x)e_\phi(|s|) \leq f(x,s,t)\leq \Xi_\pm(x)\phi(s)+\zeta(x)e_\phi(|s|), \] where \(\xi_\pm, \Xi_\pm,\zeta\in L^1(0,1)\) with \(\zeta\geq 0\) and \(e_\phi:[0,\infty)\to [0,\infty)\) is decreasing with \(\lim_{r\to \infty} \frac{e_\phi(r)}{\phi(r)}=0\). The operator \(\psi\) generalizes the \(\phi\)-Laplacian. Under suitable growth conditions on \(\psi\) and \(f\), nonresonance conditions for the solvability of the problem are obtained.
