This paper is concerned with the system of two matrix equations \(AX=C\); \(XB=D\), where the solution \(X\) is partitioned into \(2\times2\) blocks. Formulas having minimal and maximal rank estimations for the blocks of \(X\) are presented. Also conditions for the uniqueness of the blocks of the solution \(X\) and a special type of independence among these blocks are obtained.
