Suppose that \((X,\mathfrak A,\mu,T)\) and \((Y,\mathfrak B,\nu,S)\) are two dynamical systems with homeomorphisms \(T\) and \(S\) on metrizable spaces \(X\) and \(Y\), resp. They are said to be ``finitarily orbit equivalent'' if there exist subsets \(X_0\subset X\) and \(Y_0\subset Y\), both of full measure, and an invertible measure-preserving map \(\phi\) from \(X_0\) to \(Y_0\), which is a homeomorphism with respect to the relative topologies on \(X\) and \(Y\), such that \(\phi(\)\textrm Orb\(_T(x))=\)Orb\(_S(\phi(x))\) for \(\mu\)-a.e.\ \(x\in X\). It is shown that a finitary orbit equivalence map exists between any two irreducible Markov chains.
