The source of the self-force errors in the none-centered adaptive-mesh-refinement particle-incell algorithm is analyzed. A method is proposed for reducing these self forces. The approach is based on a method of charge deposition due to \textit{A. Mayo} [SIAM J. Numer. Anal. 21, 285--299 (1984; Zbl 1131.65303)] which can reduce the self-force error to any specified degree of accuracy.
