This paper considers the one-dimensional continuum Anderson model, i.e., the random Schrödinger operator on \(L^2(\mathbb R)\) \[ H=-\frac{d^2}{d x^2}+W+V_\omega \] where \(W\) is a periodic function and the random potential \(V_\omega\) is of the form \[ V_\omega(x)=\sum_{n\in Z} \eta_n f(x-n) \] where \(f\) is a compactly supported non-trivial potential and \(\eta_n\) are i.i.d. random variables with smooth density. It is well known that the system presents exponential spectral and dynamical localization at all energies. The new result here is a proof that for all energies \(E\in \mathbb R\) there exists \(0<s<1\) and \(a>0,c<\infty\) such that, for every interval \(\Lambda\subset \mathbb R\) and \(x,y\in \mathbb R\) one has \[ \mathbb E(\|\chi_x G_{\Lambda}(E)\chi_y\|^s)\leq c e^{-a|x-y|} \] where \(\mathbb E\) denotes expectation with respect to the disorder, \(\chi_x\) is the characteristic function of the interval \([x,x+1]\), \(\|\cdot \|\) denotes the Hilbert-Schmidt norm and \(G_{\Lambda}(E)=(H_\Lambda-E)^{-1}\) is the resolvent associated to the operator restricted to \(\Lambda\). In other words, there exists some moment, of order smaller than one, of the resolvent which decays exponentially in space, uniformly in the system size. In the one-dimensional discrete Anderson model, the analogous result was proven by \textit{N. Minami} [Commun. Math. Phys. 177, No.3, 709--725 (1996; Zbl 0851.60100)]. The exponential decay with distance of a fractional moment of the resolvent is a sufficient condition to guarantee spectral and dynamical localization.
