\textit{Yu. P. Razmyslov} [Algebra Logic 10, 21-29 (1971); translation from Algebra Logika 10, 33-44 (1971; Zbl 0253.17005)] constructed insoluble locally nilpotent groups of exponent \(p\) for every prime \(p\geq 5\). Earlier such a group was constructed by \textit{S. Bachmuth, H. Y. Mochizuki} and \textit{D. Walkup} for \(p=5\) [in Bull. Am. Math. Soc. 76, 638-640 (1970; Zbl 0218.20035)], and \textit{S. Bachmuth} and \textit{H. Y. Mochizuki} [Bull. Aust. Math. Soc. 5, 379-386 (1971; Zbl 0221.20053)] showed that this 5-group satisfied the 3-Engel condition. Razmyslov's paper also produced insoluble locally nilpotent \((p-2)\)-Engel Lie algebras of characteristic \(p\) for every prime \(p\geq 5\). In this paper the author shows that for every prime \(p\geq 5\) Razmyslov's construction provides insoluble locally nilpotent groups of exponent \(p\) satisfying the \((p-2)\)-Engel condition (Theorem~1), and even insoluble locally nilpotent groups of exponent \(p\) in which the normal closure of every element is nilpotent of class \(p-3\) (Theorem~2). Note that previously insoluble locally nilpotent groups of prime exponent \(p>5\) satisfying the \(n\)-Engel condition were known only with much larger values of \(n\), given by \textit{A. I. Kostrikin}'s [Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 23, 3-34 (1959; Zbl 0090.24503)] positive solution of the Restricted Burnside Problem for prime exponent and the aforementioned result of Razmyslov. Similar examples, also with large values of \(n\), for prime-power exponents follow from \textit{E. I. Zel'manov}'s [Math. USSR, Izv. 36, No. 1, 41-60 (1991); translation from Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 54, No. 1, 42-59 (1990; Zbl 0704.20030), Mat. Sb. 182, No. 4, 568-592 (1991; Zbl 0752.20017)] positive solution of the Restricted Burnside Problem for prime-power exponent and \textit{Yu. P. Razmyslov}'s results [Izv. Akad. Nauk SSSR, Ser. Mat. 42, 833-847 (1978; Zbl 0394.20030)]. There are also insoluble locally nilpotent \(n\)-Engel groups of exponent \(4\), which follows from the results of \textit{I. N. Sanov} [Moskov. Gos. Univ., Uchenye Zap., Mat. 10, 166-170 (1940; Zbl 0061.02506)] and \textit{Yu. P. Razmyslov} [loc. cit., Zbl 0394.20030].
