    Consider the oscillatory hyper-Hilbert transform \[ H_{n,\alpha,\beta} f(x)=\int\limits_0^1 f(x-\Gamma(t)) e^{it^{-\beta}} t^{-1-\alpha} dt \] along the curve \(\Gamma(t) = (t^{p_1}, t^{p_2}, \dots, t^{p_n})\), where \(\beta > \alpha\geq 0\) and \(0 < p_1 < p_2 < \dots < p_n\). In the previous paper by the same authors and \textit{M. Wang} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 136, No. 9, 3145--3153 (2008; Zbl 1268.42033)] boundedness of the operator \(H_{n,\alpha,\beta}\) on \(L^2({\mathbb R}^n)\) was proved for \(\beta\geq (n+1)\alpha\). The main results of the paper under review is the proof of the necessity of the condition \(\beta\geq (n+1)\alpha\) for the boundedness of \(H_{n,\alpha,\beta}\) on \(L^2({\mathbb R}^n)\).
