The authors prove that, if \(M\subset S^{2N+1}\subset\mathbb C^{N+1}\) is the image of a strictly pseudoconvex hypersurface \(M'\subset\mathbb C^{n+1}\) by a smooth CR embedding, and its second CR fundamental form \(II_M\) vanishes, then \(M\subset F(S^{2n+1})\) for a proper linear fractional map \(F\) definig a proper holomorphic map of the unit ball of \(\mathbb C^{n+1}\) into the unit ball of \(\mathbb C^{N+1}\). The authors describe different notions for the CR fundamental form \(II_M\), for which we, e.g., refer to \textit{S. M. Webster} [Indiana Univ. Math. J. 28, 405--416 (1979; Zbl 0387.53020)].
