The authors study the numerical solution of a nonlinear weakly singular Volterra integral equation. Taking behavior of the solution near the origin into consideration, the global convergence order of product integration and collocation methods is not optimal. To avoid this problem, a special hybrid collocation method is used. Numerical examples support the theoretical study.
