The author proves that the free-boundary problem for the spherically symmetric compressible isentropic Navier-Stokes-Poisson system in vacuum is well posed locally in time. Moreover the author shows that the astrophysical Lane-Emden configurations are recovered provided that the adiabatic exponent is larger than \(6/5\).
