We say that \((X,\|\cdot\|)\) has the fixed point property if for all nonempty closed bounded convex subsets \(C\) of \(X\) and for all nonexpansive maps \(T: C\to C\), \(T\) has a fixed point in \(C\). \(c_0\) is the space of all real sequences \(x= (x_n)_{n\geq 1}\) that converge to zero, with the usual supremum norm denoted by \(\|\cdot\|_\infty\). Let \(\|\cdot\|\) be the equivalent norm on \(c_0\) defined by \[ \| x\|= \sup_{n\geq 1}|x_n|+ \sum^\infty_{n=1} 2^{-n}|x_n|. \] In the present paper, the authors prove the following theorem. Theorem 3.1. If \(Y\) is an infinite-dimensional subspace of \((c_0,\|\cdot\|)\), then \(Y\) fails to have the fixed point property.
