    For any abstract biordered set (boset) \(E\) is constructed a semigroup \(T_E\) such that \(T_E\) and its symmetric subsemigroups are fundamental and generated by regular elements; any full subsemigroup of \(T_E\) for any boset \(E\) generated by regular elements is also fundamental. If \(E=E(S)\) is the set of idempotents of a semigroup \(S\) generated by regular elements, then \(S\) is a biorder-preserving coextension of a fundamental and symmetric subsemigroup of \(T_E\). If \(S\) is regular, the construction reduces to the fundamental regular semigroup on a regular boset presented by \textit{K. S. S. Nambooripad} [Semigroup Forum 9, 354-363 (1974; Zbl 0298.20059)]; if \(E\) is a semilattice, the construction yields the fundamental inverse semigroup on a semilattice by \textit{W. D. Munn} [Q. J. Math., Oxf. II. Ser. 21, 157-170 (1970; Zbl 0219.20047)].
