The author investigates the synchronization transition in networks of Kuramoto oscillators \[ \phi_i'=\omega_i + \sigma \sum_j a_{ij} \sin (\phi_j-\phi_i),\quad i=1,\dots,N, \] where the coupling matrix has coefficients \(a_{ij}=1\) if the nodes \(i\) and \(j\) are connected and \(a_{ij}=0\) otherwise. By numerical simulations, the effects of the correlations between the native frequencies \(\omega_i\) on the synchronization threshold is studied. In particular, negative correlations imply an onset of synchronization for smaller coupling \(\sigma\). Positive correlations lead to the synchronization onset for larger \(\sigma\) and change its universality class.
