After introducing the notion of almost convergent sequence, \textit{G. G. Lorentz} [Acta Math., Uppsala 80, 167--190 (1948; Zbl 0031.29501)] proved that \(a_{n} = o(1)\) is a Tauberian condition for the notion of almost convergence. That is, if a series of real or complex numbers \(\sum_{n= 1}^{\infty}a_{n}\) is almost convergent (the sequence of partial sums has a unique Banach limit) and \(a_{n} = o(1)\), then the series is also convergent. In this paper, the authors prove that the analogue of the previous result for absolute almost convergent series is false. It is obtained that if a series is absolutely almost convergent, then conditions like \((a_{n})_{n=1}^{\infty}\) is of bounded variation or \((n^{\delta}a_{n})_{n=1}^{\infty}\) is of bounded variation for \(0 < \delta < 1\) do not ensure that \(\sum_{n= 1}^{\infty}a_{n}\) is absolutely convergent. The proofs are obtained using standard techniques of real analysis in summability of series and sequences. As a consequence, the authors prove also interesting facts concerning absolutely almost convergence, like the fact that, if \(\sum_{n= 1}^{\infty}a_{n}\) is absolutely almost convergent, then \(a_{n} = o(n)\) and such that, for any positive decreasing to zero function \(\chi(n)\), it is false that \(a_{n} = o(n\chi(n))\). As application of the former results, they prove also some results concerning inclusions of spaces of sequences characterized by some conditions. For example, that the space of convergent sequences is not comparable with the space of absolutely almost convergent sequences, that is, neither of both spaces are included in the other.
