The authors give necessary and sufficient conditions for the almost sure convergence of averages of independent random variables with multidimensional indices obtained by certain summability methods. Actually, they extend and generalize to random fields the results of \textit{R. Jajte} [Ann. Prob. 31, No.~1, 409--412 (2003; Zbl 1013.60021)].
