This is a long, nice, technical paper dealing with extensions of topological spaces. The author continues his studies [Topology Appl. 154, No. 14, 2607--2634 (2007; Zbl 1126.54011)] of \(\mathcal{P}\)-extensions (if \(X\) is a dense subspace of \(Y\) and \(Y\) has a topological property \(\mathcal{P}\), then \(Y\) is called a \(\mathcal{P}\)-extension of \(X\)). A detailed review of the paper would be too long, so the interested specialist is encouraged to read the paper, while to a general reader the conjecture, stated and discussed in the last Section, might help to decide whether or not to read the paper. Conjecture. For a Tikhonov space \(X\) denote by \(\mathcal{U}(X)\) the set of all zero-sets of \(\beta X\) which miss \(X\). For locally compact spaces \(X\) and \(Y\) the partially ordered sets \((\mathcal{U}(X), \subseteq)\) and \((\mathcal{U}(Y),\subseteq)\) are order-isomorphic if and only if the spaces cl\(_{\beta X}(\beta X \setminus \upsilon X)\) and cl\(_{\beta Y}(\beta Y \setminus \upsilon Y\)) are homeomorphic. (In fact, the author acknowledges the anonymous reviewer for his/her extensive expert suggestions and comments regarding the conjecture.)
