In Section 23 of the book [\textit{P. T. Nagy} and \textit{K. Strambach}, Loops in group theory and Lie theory. de Gruyter. Expositions in Mathematics 35. Berlin: de Gruyter. (2002; Zbl 1050.22001)], a classification of strongly alternative two-dimensional differential loops having a three-dimensional solvable Lie group as the group generated by their left translations has been given. The author of the paper under review was able to abandon in this classification the differentiability of the loop operations as well as the left alternativity and to determine all two-dimensional topological loops with a three-dimensional solvable Lie group as the group generated by their left translations. It is surprising that the \(3\)--dimensional non-nilpotent connected Lie group with precisely one \(1\)--dimensional normal subgroup occurs as the group generated by the left translations of a topological, but not differentiable left alternative loop.
