In his work on fields of moduli for three-point covers of the projective line, \textit{S. Wewers} introduced the notion of a \textit{special \(G\)-map} in [J. Am. Math. Soc. 16, No. 4, 991--1032 (2003; Zbl 1062.14038)]. The paper under review corrects Lemma 2.17 from Wewer's paper, where a certain automorphism group of a special \(G\)-map is incorrectly described. In Proposition 3, Selander provides a correct analysis of this group, describing it as the limit of an inverse tree of groups coming from the special \(G\)-map. Selander's Theorem 1 gives a slight strengthening of Wewer's counting formulas for the number of lifts of a given special \(G\)-map to characteristic zero, and the significance of these formulas is illustrated with two examples of \(S_6\)-covers with bad reduction in characteristic 5.
