The authors investigate the continuity of certain parts of the spectrum as function from the algebra \(B(X)\) of bounded operators on a given Banach space \(X\) into the sets of subsets of \(\mathbb C\). The authors prove a sufficient, but not necessary, criterion for \(T\in B(X)\) to be a point of continuity for the spectrum \(\sigma\) and the approximate point spectrum \(\sigma_{ap}\). Finally, the authors prove several facts on the relation between spectral continuity of \(A\) and \(B\) and the spectral continuity of the block operator matrices \(M_C = \begin{pmatrix} A & C \\ 0 & B \end{pmatrix}\).
