The author defines a \(K\)-spherical function on a commutative group \(G\), where \(K\) is a finite group acting on \(G\) via group automorphisms on \(G\). He shows that every uniformly bounded \(K\)-spherical function from \(G\) into \(L(H)\) (the algebra of bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space \(H\)) is similar to a normal \(*\)-\(K\)-spherical function. These results generalize several previous results on group representations [\textit{M. M. Day}, Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 69, 276--291 (1950; Zbl 0039.12301); \textit{J. Dixmier}, Acta Sci. Math. (Szeged) 12 A, 213--227 (1950; Zbl 0037.15501); the author, Compos. Math. 57, 15--60 (1986; Zbl 0591.47030); \textit{H. Stetkaer}, J. Funct. Anal. 224, No.~2, 338--351 (2005; Zbl 1119.47046)] with no additional conditions on \(G\) or \(K\) and require a sharper bound on the invertible operator \(S\).
