Let \(K\) be a closed convex subset of a reflexive Banach space \(E\). Suppose that, for each positive integer \(n\), the mapping \(T_n:K\to K\) is \(L_n\)-Lipschitzian, i.e., \(\|T_nx-T_ny\|\leq L_n\|x-y\|\) for all \(x,y\in K\), and that \(F:=\{x\in K: x=T_nx\;\forall n\}\neq\varnothing\). The authors prove the following strong convergence theorem: If \(E\) has uniformly Gâteaux differentiable norm and \(\{T_n\}\) satisfies certain conditions, then the sequence generated by \(x_1\in K\) and \(x_{n+1}=\alpha_nx_1+(1-\alpha_n)T_nx_n\), where \(\{\alpha_n\}\) is a sequence in \([0,1]\) satisfying \(\lim_{n\to\infty}\alpha_n=0\) and \(\sum_{n=1}^\infty\alpha_n=\infty\), converges strongly to some element in \(F\).
