Let \(T(X)\) be the semigroup of all full transformations of a finite set \(X\). Let \(C(\varepsilon)\) denote the centralizer in \(T(X)\) of an \(\varepsilon\in T(X)\). Such semigroups \(C(\varepsilon)\) are considered in the case they are regular and \(\varepsilon\) is an idempotent in \(T(X)\). The subsemigroup of \(T(X)\) generated by idempotents of \(C(\varepsilon)\) is described. It is shown that such a subsemigroup contains all non-invertible transformations in \(C(\varepsilon)\) if and only if \(\varepsilon\) is an identity or a constant transformation. Thus \textit{J. M. Howie}'s known result [J. Lond. Math. Soc. 41, 707-416 (1966; Zbl 0146.02903)] concerning the subsemigroup generated by idempotents in \(T(X)\) is generalized. | |||
