In this short note, a differential equation of the form \[ x'(t) = \lambda x(t)-g(x([t])) \] and a corresponding difference equation \[ x(k+1) = \alpha x(k) -\beta g(x(k)) \] are considered, where \([t]\) is the greatest integer part of \(t\) and \(g\) is continuously differentiable. Conditions are obtained for the existence of nonconstant periodic solutions of the differential equation and these conditions are determined by solutions of the difference equation.
