The author offers a modification for the standard approach toward a foundation for arithmetic via set theory and classical logic. His starting point are multisets and the Husserlian theory of wholes with their parts and moments. In this context he sketches how the notions of natural numbers as well as those of rationals and reels might be introduced.

The author offers a modification for the standard approach toward a foundation for arithmetic via set theory and classical logic. His starting point are multisets and the Husserlian theory of wholes with their parts and moments. In this context he sketches how the notions of natural numbers as well as those of rationals and reels might be introduced.
