The quasilinear boundary value problem under consideration has been investigated previously by the authors in case of an exponential nonlinearity. Based on a detailed analysis of time maps, a complete description of the structure of the bifurcation curves is provided. It is shown that positive classical and nonclassical solutions of the boundary value problem must be symmetric on the considered interval if the nonlinear term is positive for positive values of its variable. This result is used to deduce the exact number of non-classical sign changing solutions of the problem. For Part I, see [the authors, Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl., Ser. A, Theory Methods 74, No. 11, 3751--3768 (2011; Zbl 1248.34016)].
