Sufficient conditions for the completeness and minimality in \(L^{2}([0,1];\mathbb{C}^{n})\) of the system of root functions for the first-order system of equations \[ i^{-1}By'+Q(x)y=\lambda y,\;y\in \mathbb{C}^{n}, \] with boundary conditions \[ Cy(0)+Dy(1)=0 \] are given. Here, \(B, Q, C, D\) are \(n\times n\) complex matrices, \(B\) is nonsingular and diagonal and \(\ker(CC^{\star}+DD^{\star})=0\). These conditions are different from those provided in a previous paper by the authors [Funct. Anal. Appl. 34, No.~4, 308--310 (2000); translation from Funkts. Anal. Prilozh. 34, No.~4, 88--90 (2000; Zbl 0979.34058)]. Special attention is paid to the Dirac system.
