The aim of the present paper is to correct a mistake of [ibid. 266, No. 3, 707--718 (2010; Zbl 1215.37019)] in the following sense. In the quoted paper it is claimed that for a Moser generic diffeomorphism \(f\) and an invariant residual domain \(U\), there are no periodic points in the boundary of \(U\). This is claimed to be a direct consequence of [\textit{J. N. Mather}, Adv. Math., Suppl. Stud. 7B, 531--562 (1981; Zbl 0505.58027)]. However, Mather's theorem is weaker than that, it says that the rotation number of the prime ends compactification on any end of \(U\) is irrational. In the sphere and the torus Mather's result implies this of [the authors, loc. cit.] but not in general. The aim of this erratum is to prove a weaker version of the statement in their previous paper.
