    The paper deals with lifespan of classical solutions to the following Cauchy problem for systems of quasilinear wave equations \[ \begin{cases} (\partial^2_t-c_i^2\Delta)u^i(t,x)=F_i(u,\partial_t u,\nabla_x u),\quad t>0,\;x\in \mathbb R^n,\;i=1,\dots,m,\\ u^i(0,x)=\varepsilon\varphi_i(x),\qquad \partial_tu^i(0,x)=\varepsilon\psi_i(x) \end{cases} \] where the multiple propagation speeds \(c_i\) may be different each to other and \(n\geq 4\). The authors present results on almost global existence for space dimensions \(n = 4\) and global existence for \(n \geq 5\) of small amplitude solutions. The technique employed relies on some Klainerman-Sideris type weighted estimates [\textit{S. Klainerman} and \textit{T. C. Sideris}, Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 49, No. 3, 307--322 (1996; Zbl 0867.35064)] and space-time \(L^2\)-estimates.
