Dynamical processes in many-body systems described by kinetic equations usually are described by some approximations. The common feature is the fact that they involve the dynamics of single particle distributions. However, there is a need to give solid foundations to kinetic equations with the understanding of the validity of used approximations to be able to go beyond removing the restrictions being used. In this paper we have the usage of the non-equilibrium statistical ensemble formalism (NESEF) for a kinetic equation for the single particle distribution function in an open many-body system derivation. The formalism presented in this paper can be extended to deal with the so-called non-conventional situations which are associated to disordered media and complex (fractal, self-affine) structures. The paper consists of four sections. The first one is a short introduction. The second presents the NESEF formalism and the usage of a collision integral (described in Appendix A). In Section 3 we have the derivation of the NESEF-kinetic equation. Here, the reader can also find a detailed description of this equation. Section 4 gives concluding remarks.
