Employing dynamical systems theory for discontinuous systems, the synchronization of two different dynamical systems is studied, pointing out conditions for synchronization, de-synchronization and instantaneous synchronization. The theory is applied to a controlled Duffing oscillator. The approach developed in the paper may have a large applicability in engineering.
