    The author establishes a version of the \(Z\)-set unknotting theorem for uncountable products of real numbers. More precisely, he introduces for every infinite cardinal \(\tau \) a concept of \(Z_{\tau }\)-set and proves that for every cardinal \(\tau \) larger than or equal to \(\omega \), if \(Z\) and \(F\) are \(C\)-embedded fibered \(Z_{\tau }\)-sets of \(\mathbb{R}^{\tau }\times \mathbb{R}^{\tau }\) with respect to the projection \(\pi _{1}:\mathbb{R} ^{\tau }\times \mathbb{R}^{\tau }\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{\tau }\) and \( h:Z\rightarrow F\) is a homeomorphism such that \(\pi _{1}h=\pi _{1}|Z,\) then there exists a homeomorphism \(H:\mathbb{R}^{\tau }\times \mathbb{R}^{\tau }\rightarrow \mathbb{R}^{\tau }\times \mathbb{R}^{\tau }\) such that \(H|Z=h\) and \(\pi _{1}H=\pi _{1}.\) As a consequence, if \(h:Z\rightarrow F\) is a homeomorphism between \(C\)-embedded \(Z_{\tau }\)-sets in \(\mathbb{R}^{\tau },\) then there is an autohomeomorphism \(H\) of \(\mathbb{R}^{\tau }\) such that \( H|Z=h.\) Similar results are valid for the Tychonov cube as well. Using this approach, the author positively answers a question from [\textit{J. van der Slot}, General Topology Appl. 2, 61--65 (1972; Zbl 0236.54006)] whether any homeomorphism between closed \(C\)-embedded \(\sigma \)-compact subsets of \(\mathbb{R}^{\tau }\) admits an extension to an autohomeomorphism of \(\mathbb{R}^{\tau }\).
