The author investigates properties of a fixed point type algorithm suggested by Y.~Censor, A.~Gibali, and S.~Reich for the so-called split variational inequality, which is an extension of the usual variational inequality, in Hilbert space settings. By using monotonicity (co-coercivity) properties, the author proves its weak convergence without additional previous assumptions. Some examples of applications are discussed.
