The authors are reviewing and presenting some new results concerning biquaternions which are quaternions with complex components. Biquaternions were introduced by William Rowan Hamilton in 1844. There are several books of quaternions and their application. However, a precise theory of biquaternions is not so easy to find. The reason for that is that the algebra of biquaternions is isomorphic with the Clifford algebra \(\mathrm{Cl}_{3,0}\) (see, for example [\textit{P. Lounesto}, Clifford algebras and spinors. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (1997; Zbl 0887.15029)]). The present paper is putting together several representations and fundamental operations of biquaternions. Some of the material is based on the book of \textit{J. P. Ward} [Quaternions and Cayley numbers: algebra and applications. Dordrecht: Kluwer Academic Publishers (1997; Zbl 0877.15031)]. As a reference is given also a numerical toolbox [\textit{S. J. Sangwine} and \textit{N. Le Bihan}, Quaternionic Toolbox for Matlab. (2005), \url{http://qtfm.sourceforge.net/}].
