    The author considers the semiclassical Schrödinger-Poisson system \[ \begin{cases} i\varepsilon\partial_t u^\varepsilon +{\varepsilon^2 \over 2}\Delta u^\varepsilon =\lambda V^\varepsilon_{P} u^\varepsilon \\ -\Delta V^\varepsilon_{P} = |u^\varepsilon|^2, \quad V^\varepsilon_{P}\in L^\infty({\mathbb R}^n), \quad V^\varepsilon_{P} \to 0 \;\text{as }\;|x|\to\infty\\ u^\varepsilon_{|t=0}(x) = A_0^\varepsilon (x) e^{i {\Phi_0(x) \over\varepsilon}}\end{cases} \] where \(n \geq 3\), \(\varepsilon\) is a positive parameter, and \(\lambda\) is a real number. In addition, the ``initial amplitude'' \(A_0\) is complex-valued and the ``initial phase'' \(\Phi_0\) is real-valued. The aim of this paper is to justify the large-time Wentzel-Kramers-Brillouin (WKB) approximation \[ u^\varepsilon(t,x)\sim e^{i{\phi(t,x)\over \varepsilon}} \left(\beta_0(t,x)+\varepsilon\beta_1(t,x)+\varepsilon^2\beta_2(t,x)+\cdots \right). \] In general, the classical solution of the Schrödinger-Poisson system breaks down in finite time by a formation of a singularity and the WKB type approximation also breaks down. In the paper under review the author considers special initial data \(A_0^\varepsilon (x) e^{i {\Phi_0(x) \over\varepsilon}}\) with some additional assumptions about \(A_0^\varepsilon\) and \(\Phi_0^\varepsilon\). It is proven that for any \(0 < \varepsilon \ll 1\) the smooth solution \(u^\varepsilon\) of the above system exists and the WKB type approximation is valid for \(t\leq C_1\log{1\over \varepsilon}+C_2\) (i.e., for an arbitrarily large interval of \({\mathbb R}_{+}\)).
