In previous papers, by introducing a viscoelastic damping in the porous equation together with a macrotemperature effect it is shown that the decay is exponential, when the relaxation function is of exponential decay, and the decay is polynomial, if the relaxation function is polynomial. The authors establish a general decay for a porous thermoelastic system with memory in the case of equal speeds. This general decay of weak solutions is more general as the above mentioned results since the exponential and polynomial decay are merely special cases.
