The authors prove the existence and uniqueness of local solutions of a coupled system of Kirchhoff equations. The nonlinear boundary conditions in part of the boundary bring serious difficulties in the approximate method. To overcome this difficulty they construct a special basis, using the nonlinear function \(h\), for the space where the approximations of the initial data lie. With this basis they apply the Galerkin method. The results generalize previous works because the functions \(M(t\lambda)\), the nonlinear boundary conditions and the initial data are more general.
