The author gives an extension and a much simplified proof of Suffridge's celebrated convolution theorem for polynomials with restricted zeros on the unit circle. The main theorem of the paper states that zero interspersion is invariant under convolution with polynomials in Suffridge classes. It is also shown that this theorem implies an old result of Lewis and Ruscheweyh concerning the convolution of close-to-convex functions.
