The authors introduce an operation between bounded Hessenberg matrices called \(m\)-sum. This algebraic operation consists in obtaining the Hessenberg matrix associated with the Hermitian positive definite matrix given by the convex sum of the corresponding Hermitian positive definite matrices associated with the component Hessenberg matrices. They extend the method to obtain the Hessenberg matrix of the sum of measures from the Hessenberg matrices of the individual measures, proposed by the authors [J. Approx. Theory 163, No. 1, 49--64 (2011; Zbl 1219.28006)] for subnormal matrices, to matrices which are not necessarily subnormal. Several examples are provided.
