Let \(S\) be a discrete abelian cancellation semigroup with an identity. An algebra of generalized analytic functions on the semigroup \(\hat{S}\) of semicharacters of \(S\) is considered. It is shown that the strong boundary and the Shilov boundary of this algebra are unions of maximal subgroups of the semigroup of semicharacters of \(S\). In the case that \(S\) contains no nontrivial ideals, it is shown that the Gelfand spectrum of the uniform algebra \(A(\hat{S})\) consisting of functions that are continuous on \(\hat{S}\) and generalized analytic on \(\hat{S}\backslash X\) (what is \(X\), is not so clearly stated in the paper) is identifiable with the space \(\hat{S_1}\) of semicharacters of the subgroup \(S_1\) of the group \(G\) generated by the supports of the Fourier transforms of an algebra \(A(X)\) of continuous functions on \(X\).
