The authors study the existence of solutions for the doubly nonlinear parabolic equation with strongly nonlinear source under optimal assumptions on the initial data, which are assumed to be measures. They also obtain some local regularity estimates for the supercritical case \(q>m(p - 1)+p/N\). \textit{D. Andreucci} and \textit{E. DiBenedetto} [Ann. Sc. Norm. Super. Pisa, Cl. Sci., IV. Ser. 18, No. 3, 363--441 (1991; Zbl 0762.35052)] considered the case of the porous medium equation. In this paper the authors extend their results to the case of doubly nonlinear equations.
