The authors study a one-dimensional Ising spin system with ferromagnetic, long-range interaction decaying as \(n^{-2+\alpha}\), \(\alpha\in [0,0.5]\), in the presence of external random fields. It is assumed that the random fields are given by a collection of symmetric, independent, identically distributed real random variables, Gaussian or sub-Gaussian with variance \(\theta\). Note that, in case \(\theta=0\), this model already has been studied by many authors (see, for example, [\textit{M. Aizenman} et al., J. Stat. Phys. 50, No. 1--2, 1--40 (1988; Zbl 1084.82514)]). In the paper, it is established that, for temperature and variance of the randomness small enough, the typical configurations are intervals of \(+\)spins followed by intervals of \(-\)spins whose typical length is \(\theta^{2/(1-2\alpha)}\) for \(0\leq \alpha< 1/2\) and becomes exponentially large in terms of \(\theta^{-2}\) at \(\alpha=1/2\). Note that, when \(\theta>0\), the Gibbs measures are random valued measures.
